Position

Due to continued growth and winning a number of projects we are delighted to announce we are recruiting for a Senior Project Manager to join our ever-growing team here at Rugby. Reporting to the Naval Project Director, the role will be primarily responsible for managing Naval Projects ensuring project deliverables are achieved in line with business objectives. You will be responsible for project delivery, profit & loss accountability, and customer satisfaction through management of project related activities and resources

 

As the primary interface to both internal and external customers you will lead cross-functional teams to execute the project to the plan, within budget and in line with EHS and quality requirements. Using high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering you will be offering solutions out side of set parameters or offer recommendations.

 

This work is undertaken with UK Defence customers which will require any individual applying for the role to hold or be capable of getting SC Level clearance. Applicants not cleared will not be accepted into the business until this clearance is provided. Dual passport holders are acceptable if the second country is approved by the vetting authority.

Other Key Responsibilities of the role:

 

  • Managing project timelines and co-ordinating with the Rugby Service Centre and external sub-contractors together with Sourcing to secure load planning through appropriate slotting demands within supplier capacity.
  • Accountable for project cost, revenue and cash review/pacing rhythm to deliver within budget and achieve forecast revenue and cash. Uses financial reporting and project KPIs to identify risks & opportunities proactively.
  • Proactively identify cost out opportunities and develop appropriate action plans
  • Proactively identify and manage project risks creating and executing and monitoring timely mitigation plans to ensure course correction ensuring accurate and timely updates to all stakeholders
  • Implements a continuous improvement cycle aimed at addressing problem solving and lessons learnt opportunities taking proactive actions to avoid further problems. 
  • Proactive contract management to identify opportunities to upsell to the customer based on emergent work and ensure appropriate follow through

Profile

Qualification and Experience

  • Extensive project management experience, preferably within new product introduction (NPI) would be ideal
  • Knowledge of design and manufacturing processes would be beneficial but not essential.
  • Demonstrable experience dealing with customers and commercial activity with proven customer facing capability at senior level
  • A good knowledge of AGILE methodologies would be preferable.

  • Knowledge of Lean and/or alternative continuous improvement methods
