Position

Process Engineer:

 

Overall target of the position:

 

The Process Engineer has the responsibility of the on-time delivery of the Project Process engineering documentation according to the valid Work Instructions and Technical Rules, with respect to the Project and contractual requirements, and Company Plant EHS Policy, with technical support from the Process Lead Engineer and Experts.

 

Tasks & responsibilities:

 

  • Description of the main tasks & responsibilities in the dimensions of operational, financial, process & tools, and people related.
  • Project during execution phases:
  • Reviews the technical contractual requirements and analyze the rules, codes and standards applicable to Process engineering.
  • Determines applicability of the project contractual requirements on process engineering scope and ensures the allocation of requirements to document for his/her scope of work in the documents management tool.
  • Identifies the contractual Risks and Opportunities and propose technical deviations and clarifications
  • Issues Process project procedures PEF-PMF (MTA).

 

Executes (with the other Process engineers of his/her project team and supported by the Lead Engineer Process and by experts) the following Process engineering activities:

 

  • The Process (mechanical) systems design including:
  • Process Flow Diagrams (PFD).
  • The P&IDs and associated components lists (e.g., piping list, valve list, equipment list).
  • The System Design Manuals (SDM) excluding the controls logic diagrams, Electrical and I&C interfaces.
  • The process electrical load list (list of electrical consumers with process engineering data only).
  • The piping interfaces list.
  • The functional safety studies: HAZOP, safety functions (SIL) requirements, excluding Safety.
  • Requirements Specification, SIL verification reports.
  • Identification of Nuclear Safety Classified Items/Components and Activities in line with Equipment qualification team and supported by the Nuclear Safety Process Engineer.
  • Input data for fatigue analysis, per system.
  • The Reliability Availability and Maintainability (RAM) studies.
  • Provides input for the preparation of the MTS and EDM.
  • Is responsible for Design control and Design freeze process for his/her scope, complying with applicable configuration management procedures.
  • Analyses Customer comments and Technical Queries and prepare related answers.
  • Ensures technical check for process engineering deliverables done by other process engineer(s) to maximize the quality level.
  • Contributes to the Plant Operation and Control Concept.
  • Prepares and manage mechanical and functional interfaces with internal participants (product lines, mechanical packages) and external parties (customer, general designer, partner, supplier) and take actions if necessary (MCL).
  • Supplies and reviews of Process Operating and Design Data for circuits in EDB
  • Participates in design and/or technical reviews (internal/external) and prepares the associated reports.
  • Participates in various coordination meetings (liaison, conciliation, workshops, etc…) with customer/general designer/partner.
  • Ensures that the arrangement and the piping routing correspond to the process requirements,.
  • Cross-checks the I&C documents of System Design Manual prepared by Operability and Controls engineers.
  • Cross-checks Operating Instructions.
  • Coordinates and provides the Process documentations “as built” revisions and collect the REX from site.
  • Ensures timely responses on Process issues raised internally by other engineering disciplines.
  • Supports the site Construction and Commissioning staff through troubleshooting, claim management supporting, Close-Out punch lists to obtain PAC and FAC with the Customers, review mechanical modifications (eg FSI preparation).
  • Prepares reply of Non Conformance Reports (NCR) and take the necessary actions
  • Ensures the feedback of experience from the project via the Lead Engineer.
  • Provides information to prepare the engineering progress upon request by Lead Engineer,
  • Reports to the Lead Engineer Process the status of the assigned tasks.

 


Tendering/R&D activities:

 

She/He contributes to the offers preparation with following roles/activities:

 

  • Prepares a technical offer for his/her discipline following a Customer RFQ.
  • Reviews the contractual technical requirements, makes comments and requests clarification or deviation, if necessary.
  • Reviews and comments the scope of supply (DoW).
  • Prepares the Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and identify the scope of supply and main interfaces,
  • Participates to the tendering coordination meetings and clarification meetings with Customer,
  • Supports technically the Tender Engineering Manager (TEM) for his/her discipline,
  • Contributes to the budget determination for the Process discipline (PCDB).
  • Knowledge Preservation and Improvement Program (KPIP):
  • Contributes to the update of Process Engineering Manual, improving and taking into account the REX into the
  • Technical Rules and Work Instructions.
  • Can be involved in root cause analysis or PSR when a problem statement is raised inside engineering (for instance for analysis of CoPQ).
  • Works in New Products Introduction (NPI) programs with the preparation of PFDs, system design description.
  • P&IDs, design concepts (DO), engineering reports (ER), in relation with other engineering disciplines.

  • Closing of open actions further to Design Reviews reports
  • OTD: Documents issued according to the engineering time schedule and forecasted dates in EDM.
  • Personal objectives, Targets and Performance Measurements as defined on a yearly basis.
  • NCR answer time.
  • Customer answer time.

  • Short missions to site to support erection and commissioning activities as well as meeting with Customer Partners or Suppliers.
  • In contact with the different engineering sites of the Company,
  • Knows and applies design methods, rules and tools for the activity including a good general knowledge about power plants
  • Communication in a multi-cultural and complex organization.

 

Reporting:

 

The Process Engineer reports operationally to the assigned Lead Engineer Process in matters affecting the project and functionally to his/her Group Manager Process in all other matters.

Qualification profile:

 

Education and Experience:

 

  • Master’s degree in mechanical and Fluids engineering,
  • At least 2 years professional experience in Process Engineering within Power Plant Engineering.
  • Site experience (3 months preferable)
  • Trained to Nuclear Safety Culture.
  • Trained to ITNS-I/ITNS-A management.

 

Specific knowledge and skills:

 

  • Engineering in his/her technical field and with interface clarification beyond his/her field,
  • Good knowledge in other disciplines (i.e. products specifications, layout & arrangement, electrical
  • design) involved in Power Plant engineering.
  • Detailed knowledge of power plant water/steam cycles,
  • Basic knowledge of Company’s products: Steam Turbine, Generator, Heat exchangers and Pumps,
  • Computer familiarity (Word, Excel, Outlook, Pdf editor,…..),
  • Knowledge about CAD tools: Autocad, Visio, Naviswork, etc…
  • Fluent in English (good standard in reading, written and spoken is mandatory),
  • Strong technical and scientific know-how and willingness to continuously extend and develop it.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, enjoys personal contact.
