Position
Role Summary / Purpose:
The Manufacturing leader – Turbine shop COE is a pivotal role within any industrial organization, tasked with overseeing all aspects of all day-to-day manufacturing operations. This position requires strong leadership skills, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of manufacturing operations. The Manufacturing lead – Turbine shop COE is responsible for ensuring the efficient and cost-effective production of goods, while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance. Responsible for developing an enthusiastic, motivated, and flexible team by building working relationships ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to. Manage the team on best practice and establish standard policies and procedures whilst also mentoring and leading teams. Implement and manage continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing principals by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices and processes.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice manufacturing vision, strategy, objectives, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.
- Identify business improvement opportunities within the organisation.
- Develop, implement, and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for each area of responsibility.
- Effectively and efficiently manage the production of the required daily/weekly/monthly targets in line with customer specifications, meeting quality and delivery expectations, minimising costs where possible and ensure the required best working practices are always maintained.
- Responsible for Turbine shop production, financial performance, meeting customer requirements and maintaining the orderly and productive operation of planned activities.
- Monitor production processes to ensure efficiency, productivity, and profitability targets are consistently met or exceeded.
- Implement and enforce Built in Quality measures to ensure that manufactured products meet or exceed customer expectations and industry standards.
- Identify and deploy the technical skill sets, resource levels and systems to deliver projects, including the engagement of external resources as required.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless coordination and communication throughout the manufacturing process.
- Identify areas for process improvement and implement Lean principles to optimize production workflows, reduce costs, and increase operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, industry standards, and quality management systems, such as ISO certifications.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in manufacturing, and actively seek opportunities to leverage new technologies or methodologies to improve manufacturing processes.
- Manage, coach, and develop a high performing manufacturing team that meets agreed objectives, and which delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements.
- Manage and lead the team, ensuring adequate staffing levels, managing recruitment, training, development, appraisal, attendance, disciplinary issues, and daily supervision to maximise efficient productivity.
- Prepare the annual Manufacturing budget and forecasts and all Capital Expenditure proposals as well as ensuring compliance with legal standards. Manage the budget from identification to completion of projects.
- Ability to adapt to fast-paced and changing environments, and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
- In-depth knowledge of manufacturing principles, processes, and technologies, including lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyse complex issues and implement effective solutions.
- Can lead Qualification for Nuclear new product – Assessment of our capability & capacity, Product qualification, Skill gap, Competency Development & Knowledge transfer.
Profile
Desired Skill set:
- Strong track record of successfully managing heavy machining and assembly manufacturing operations, preferably within a complex and highly regulated industry.
- Technical Expertise in Steam turbine product line
- Experience in implementing lean manufacturing principles and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Excellent knowledge of manufacturing processes, technologies, and best practices.
- Demonstrated experience in managing and developing a high-performing manufacturing team.
- Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and manufacturing software systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication & presentation skills.
- Excellent leadership and man- management skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage a variety of cross-functional team members.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Mechanical engineering/ Industrial Engineering/Production Engineering and/or Masters in Business Administration (Operations).
- 15+ years’ experience in manufacturing management, preferably in a heavy manufacturing industry and/or related industry.
This is an SPB (Senior Professional Band) position.
