Ready for a new and exciting career opportunity reporting directly into the UK Naval Quality Leader, collaborating with a strong and diverse project team engaged in solving exciting challenges within our Naval Projects portfolio.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to transition into a Project Quality role and will require both hands on and office-based engagement, with duties that vary month to month, dependent on project status, customer interaction, issue resolution and ongoing CCR (Covenants, Conditions, and Restrictions) activity.

This role is based at our Rugby (Warwickshire) facility, with travel to our supply chain and other locations to be expected.

In this role you will be working on Naval Projects which requires the successful individual to hold the relevant UK Security Clearance. We will support the application for Security Clearance if the individual does not have it. Due to the nature of the work an individual is required to be a UK National (as approved by the MOD).

In the role of Naval Project Quality Engineer, supporting New Build, Spares & Services, you will have a responsibility to ensure that quality requirements are understood and adhered to, enabling us to meet our contractual obligations. Your key internal stakeholders will be from Project Management, Engineering, Supplier Quality, Sourcing and our local Factory teams. In this role you will review and capture contractual quality requirements, ensuring that these are understood and delivered against during execution. You will become a quality focal point for both our Customers and the Naval Project team.

As a Naval Project Quality Engineer, you must be self-motivated, have superb attention to detail and be able to organize workload with minimal supervision.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Ensure close collaboration within the horizontal Naval Project team (Project Management, Engineering, Sourcing, Tendering, internal partners and external supply chain, workshops etc.), providing expertise and guidance as required.
  • Support supply chain risk assessment activities and the definition of project specific Quality Control Plans.
  • Become a quality interface to customer and internal partners, participate in customer / Project related meetings.
  • Dealing with Non-conformance Report (NCR), both internal and external, NCR and Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ) follow-up with systemic deep dive, as required, driven by Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Collation of final End of Manufacture Report (EoMR) documentation for submittal to customer, as per the respective QCPs and / or contractual requirements.
  • Supports Internal Audits within the project scope & capture audit outputs in the appropriate tools (Gensuite, SSP etc.).
  • Seek, share and institutionalize best practices and lessons learned across the projects, supporting the Return on Experience process.
  • Interface and liaise with the Customer and key stakeholders for any Project Quality issues and coordinate relevant action plans within the Projects.
  • Improve Customer Satisfaction and supports reduction of Cost of Quality through the application of Lean tools.

Profil

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a combination of Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering and Supply Chain environments.
  • Ideally we would like applications from candidates within Steam Turbine or Generator businesses, however we would be very interested in seeing applications from other or similar industries, for example Aerospace, Automotive or Heavy industrial Manufacturing
  • Exposure to 8D problem resolution, FMEA and other quality related methodologies.

Desired Characteristics

  • Formal technical and / or quality background or practical manufacturing experience.
  • Working towards a formal Quality qualification.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to deliver effective presentations and educate at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Understands the principles of Six Sigma / Lean methodologies.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional business teams and drive quality improvements.
  • Ability and willingness to travel, as required.
