Position

Job Description Summary

The Supplier Quality Manager – Balance of Plant (BoP) – Piping & Skids is accountable for the quality performance of the external supply chain delivering products to the construction sites of Nuclear New Build customers.

Her/his mission consists in enabling Right First Time and on Time parts deliveries by external vendors to customer sites by managing robust qualification and development of external vendors, by driving a risk-based surveillance strategy as well as expertise on targeted processes both upfront and along execution.

Supplier Quality Manager will work in full alignment and close collaboration with internal stakeholder functions including but not limited to sourcing (strategic, procurement and order fulfilment), engineering, project quality and project management to assure new build projects’ execution excellence.

This role will also identify process, tools, resource capability and capacity gaps in his/her domain of responsibility and initiate and drive continuous improvement/lean activities to close the gaps and mitigate the risks.

Responsabilities

  • Lead a team of +10 Supplier Quality Engineers to succeed in delivering quality and on time products to Nuclear New Build customers.
  • Define and track accurate KPI in line with Supplier Quality priorities, ensure that robust mechanisms and competencies are in place to address deviations against targets with robust action plans
  • Drive adherence and compliance to the global sourcing directives, supplier quality procedures and specific projects’ procedures. Ensure processes effectiveness, including but not limited to supplier audits, kick-off meetings, supplier documents review, pre-inspection meetings, inspections management, deviations tracking and shipment release.
  • Develop deep relationships with key horizontal interfaces including project management, project quality, engineering, procurement and order fulfilment functions to standardize and simplify processes and procedures.   
  • Develop operating rhythms by coordinating with sourcing, project quality and engineering leaders to drive standardization, rigor, and efficiency (including RCAs, qualifications, suppliers’ claims, NCRs and derogations)
  • Support the Supplier Quality leader for Systems and Components in definition of KPIs, work processes and department strategy, and associated continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Align with Procurement and Strategic Sourcing Leaders in identifying and leading Supplier Quality Improvement Programs to continuously improve supplier performance and improve supplier base.
  • Rise continuously the Nuclear Safety maturity (both on processes and culture) of the external supply chain in collaboration with the Nuclear Safety leader.

 

Profile

Required Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written English
  • Engineer or university degree in quality or sourcing management (or equivalent)
  • More than 5 years’ experience in leading teams
  • More than 10 years’ experience in industrial sector, ideally in supplier quality and in nuclear environment
  • More than 10 years proven track record in quality management, mastering of all pillars (problem solving tools, quality assurance, QMS and continuous improvement)
  • Proficiency to read and understand contractual quality and technical documents, drawings, specifications, and standards
  • Strong communication skills, comfortable to communicate at all levels, ability to focus key messaging when reporting to senior leadership
  • High level of resilience
  • Ability to motivate and lead people to a common purpose
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel for supplier and customer meetings (up to 40%)

Desired Characteristics

  • Knowledge of main components of a turbine hall and their associated manufacturing processes
  • National language of the unit hosting the employee or of a main hub of the supply chain
  • ISO 9001 certified auditor
  • Good level of knowledge in nuclear safety principles and experience in deploying them
  • Certifications in continuous improvement methods
