Job Description Summary:
Drive and coordinate the execution of Fabrication Shop operations wing to wing with (SQDC)Zero deviation in Safety and Quality. Ensure alignment of different stakeholders to achieve OTD & shop Utilization.
Demonstrate appropriate leadership behaviour to guide the team and standard work/DMS
Perform the daily operations of plants to ensure reliability and consistency on the production line. Responsible for departmental operations planning/execution or is focused on execution of professional activities within a technical discipline. Functions with some autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results.
The incumbent will be responsible for overall optimization and operational management of production flows throughout the factory and supplier’s network.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Control, Organise, monitor production operations as per plan, implement corrective action as necessary. Make recovery plan for delays, implement, and ensure targets agreed are achieved.
- Promote Open Reporting on any quality concern.
- Lead and Drive Root Cause analysis for any NCRs/Customer Feedback
- Change Management monitoring.
- Ensures experience and lessons learned are properly fed back to FMEA analysis
- Maintain and Update Skill Matrix of all technician along with their development plan.
- Work with HR for new skill development on cross work centre working within other shop.
- Quarterly review of technician performance and rate their incentives
- Yearly review of technician performance for their increments
- Mentor and Support Shift engineers on daily manufacturing execution.
- Interact with related Departments, make daily and weekly inspection plan and submit to QC, Clarify Deviations, give technical guidance to subordinates to ensure quality production meeting Statutory regulations at least time and cost.
- Develop and improve process, foster suggestions from employees to reduce cycle time and cost.
- Implementation of suggestions and facilitate jigs and tools for improving productivity
- Includes direct people management responsibility including staffing and performance development. Utilizes in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline and analytical thinking and technical experience to execute policy/strategy.
- Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
- Use technical experience and analytical thinking. Use multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions.
- Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Organise monitor and supervise skill development initiatives/ activities in shop to enhance employees’ skills.
- Explain information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Convey performance expectations and handle sensitive issues
- Optimizing utilization of resources to achieve the production target based on bar chart of proposed delivery schedule. Plan and ensure availability of material and resources to achieve target.

Required Qualifications and Knowledge
- BE/ B. Tech/Diploma in Mechanical/Fabrication with 15+ years of experience.
- Knowledge of fabrication and welding processes
- Experience in heavy fabrication and assembly
- Basic Knowledge of Heat treatment processes
- Understanding of safe practice and risk related welding process and EHS requirements
- Proper understand a Welding document like, WPS, Welding book & Welding sketch/types of welding joints (Geometry and Symbols) and different positions
- Knowledge of GMAW Welding Process – Welding Position: PC, PF-Butt & PF, PD-Fillet.
- Knowledge of SAW Welding Process with higher thickness – Welding Position-PA.
- Good knowledge of welding sequence for control a distortion during welding.
- Knowledge of inspection requirements and welding quality/defects impacts, visual inspection criteria
- Knowledge of defect/discontinuity of fabrication processes.
This role is an SPB (Senior Professional Band) position.
