Position
We are delighted to announce we are currently recruiting for Product Definition Engineers to join our Naval Engineering team for a 3 year fixed term contract.
This role is based at our Rugby (Newbold Road) facility, where as a Product Definition Engineer you will be responsible for producing manufacturing instructions for components and assemblies.
This work is undertaken with UK Defence customers which will require any individual applying for the role to hold or be capable of getting SC Level clearance, be a British Citizen and working or have residency in the UK for a minimum of 5 years. Applicants not cleared will not be accepted into the business until this clearance is provided. Dual passport holders are acceptable if the second country is approved by the vetting authority.
Main Responsibilities:
- You will generate 2D drawings for a range of components and assemblies to support the procurement of salient items, the manufacture of individual components and assembly instructions for the supply chain.
- Support to project Engineers with producing 3D models and sketches.
- Generate design solutions for minor assemblies, tooling, transport frames and jigs as appropriate.
- Produce documentation in support of supply chain, such as check sheets, build diagrams and clearance charts.
- The creation of Bill of Materials for components and assemblies.
- Use the in-house PLM system for configuration and order management.
Profile
Qualifications and Experience:
- HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent.
- 3 years of design experience.
- Excellent knowledge of Catia V5 Preferably or other CAD packages.
- A good understanding of drawing standards and tolerancing would be advantageous.
- Experience using PLM systems to create BOM, Teamcentre would be ideal.
