Position

Hinkley Point C (HPC) will be a new nuclear power station in the UK. Once operation it will deliver 3.2 GW of carbon free electricity, powering 6 million homes, and hence contributing to the Net Zero and strategic autonomy objectives of the UK which will help Britain achieve Net Zero. Arabelle Solutions plays a key role in the entry into operation of the HPC power station through the delivery of 2 turbine islands on a turnkey basis which means that Arabelle Solutions are designing, procuring, manufacturing, installing and finally commissioning all power generating equipment of the conventional island, including the record breaking 1750 MW Arabelle turbine, fitted with the 75 inches last stage blade.

We are delighted to announce we are recruiting an experienced Site Planning Manager to join and lead out team at HPC.  As the Site Planning Manager you will provide clear and sustained leadership of the site planning activities ensuring adherence to the project and business directives and ISO requirements. You will be responsible for leading the HPC site planners to consolidate one single schedule through all site phases ensuring that as the owner of the site programme they are maintained, valid, robust and regularly updated as required.

 

Other Responsibilities

  • Provide all planning related deliverables included but not limited to programme updates, critical and near critical paths, issues of concern, reports etc. ensuring that these are delivered concisely and timely.
  • Provide clear and concise data to the Site Director and project team and guide, support and direct the team on critical or potentially critical issues or concerns.
  • Support the Project Planning Manager for all planning related issues with the client, including participation in regular meetings, discussions etc.
  • Working closely with the contracts lead (for site subcontracts), identify potential and / or delays by the site subcontractors and provide time impact analysis and substantiation of any delays to support claims for subcontractor delays.
  • Support the Project Planning Manager in identifying potential and / or delays caused by our Customer and provide time impact analysis and substantiation of any delays to support claims for extension of time.
  • Commercial awareness with particular focus across the construction scope to support earliest revenue recognition and cash in
  • As directed by the Project Planning Manager, draft and validate any site rebaselining of programmes, ensuring that the rebaselined programmes meet recognised good practice in the form of adequate logic, reasonable use of constraints and the incorporation of sufficient float and to ensure the baseline is realistic.
  • Follow the New Build planning processes, procedures, methodologies, tools (i.e., P6, PMS / PR / CMS), and standardised reports as applicable.
  • Periodically updates the planning close-out report (site part) of project during the project life cycle.

Basic Qualification and Experience

 

  • Bachelor/Engineering degree & PMP certification or equivalent experience is desirable.
  • Experience within a similar role in a construction environment is essential as is proven knowledge of typical power plant processes.
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written) with the ability to communicate with and influence stakeholders at all levels both internally and externally
  • Experience of leading and developing teams.

 

Desired Skills

 

  • Excellent management, organisational, verbal and written communication skills with good investigative and problem-solving skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Enthusiastic, self-driven, determined and thorough in approach and capable of working independently and in team environment.
  • Expertise in substantiating delay claims is desirable but not essential.
  • Knowledge in the planning tools Inc. Primavera software (P6) is required as is good computer skills, including MS Office, database tools and excellent analytical skills.
