As a Generator Diagnostic Engineer / Generator Specialist you’ll be responsible for all activities relating to enhancing services technology integrating customer data, or capturing engines/products reliability, availability, maintenance, safety and other performance parameters. Includes hourly, nonexempt and exempt employees as well as manager roles responsible solely for these activities. Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. In this position you will have some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance.
You’ll be the expert, who will carry out the inspection, control activities specified, and testing at power plant sites. You will be responsible for generator diagnostic and making recommendations. Frequent trips in UK and abroad are to be expected.
Main Responsibilities:
- You will work on power plant sites as part of maintenance or incidental operations as an expert on generator systems with high power: magnetic core, stator, rotor, exciter.
- Visual and endoscopic inspection
- Robotic inspection
- Mechanical controls (natural frequency measurements, etc.)
- Electrical checks and tests on windings (impedance measurements, low flux test, etc.)
- DC or AC high voltage tests on insulation (dielectric withstand test, delta tangent measurement, partial discharges)
- Write complete and detailed technical reports following expertise
- Diagnose breakdowns and analyze the causes
- Propose and develop with engineering solutions following observed anomalies
- Communicate with the customer (clear explanation of identified defects, recommendations)
- Supervise repair work
- Extensive travel across the UK and overseas.
Profil
Required Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering or Time served apprenticeship or equivalent.
- Experience in the maintenance and control of generator systems.
- Good electrical knowledge.
- Driving License.
- Fluent in English
